Endovenous Chemical Ablation (ECA)
Comprehensive Venous Diagnosis and Treatment
Foam sclerosants can be injected into saphenous veins with ultrasound guidance to cause the vein to seal shut producing results similar to those produced by radiofrequency or LASER treatments. Extensive clinical trials utilizing this technique with a manufactured foam have been performed and clinical follow-up is underway.
Although endovenous chemical ablation is effective, few insurance companies presently will pay for this technique. This may change once enough clinical data is available to assess the technique, but insurance companies often take years to accept new clinical data.
